Adam was named “Careless Norton” by “Chigwell Fats” a famous East London pianist.

Laurence “The Sheik” Petre Allen :-

Legend alleges he progressed from a tennis racquet to guitar while at school. Interest in guitars and the blues grew, encouraged by good intentions of his Uncle. This led to Liverpool UK bands Blueprint, and The Blues Syndicate. Laurence emigrated to Perth WA and joined Nacho Mamaz Blues Band. The moniker of “The Sheik” was bestowed on Laurence in that line up. One studio recording and performances at the National blues festival Lithgow NSW and Bridgetown International Blues Festival WA. That band split and The Tone Doctors were founded as a prescription for a good time lasting 15 years. After time away from the blues scene, including a spell overseas. Laurence returned home to Perth and a mutual acquaintance introduced him to Adam “Careless” Norton. Now we have – please imagine if you will a drum roll and cymbal crash – The Lowdown.

Andrew “Ripper” Armitage :-

Andrew was born and raised in England where he developed a taste for blues music at an early age. As a teen he studied classical piano and guitar for several years. Having migrated to Western Australia after getting married and assisting the Police with a high profile UK murder case he started playing bass guitar with a number of blues bands. Andrew is currently working with The Lowdown making great blues music, where authentic traditions and contemporary material go hand in hand to create high energy dance blues of all types. As a founder member of The Lowdown he has found his happy place.

Troy “Inkless“ Shirlaw :-

Troy is the timekeeper of The Lowdown and is as dependable as the best luxury Swiss timepieces. Hailing from Sydney NSW Troy began playing drums at an early age. Before too long he was in demand as a part of the notoriously competitive local music scene. He has played across multiple genres including prestigious tenures with notable Van Morrison and Neil Young tribute bands across Australia. Now settled in WA Troy has been involved in the Perth music scene since arriving and has occupied the drum seat for Wayne Green’s Ragged Company amongst others. The Lowdown are pleased to have passed his audition and have Troy join their ranks.
